CSF is a brain fluid secreted as an ultrafiltrate by the choroid plexus. It has a very intricate physiology and is involved in hydrodynamic, metabolic and immunological aspects. The pathophysiology of CSF is equally complex and one of the main problems is hydrocephalus, defined\u00a0as a dynamic imbalance between the production and absorption of CSF. The aetiology of hydrocephalus includes different pathologies affecting both production and resorption of CSF.<br>\u00a0<br>CSF has multiple functions as a mechanical protection of the brain maintaining electrolytic\u00a0environments, as well as providing nutrient support to neural and glial cells.
